Diving Bunaken on a Passport to Paradise

Choosing where to go on your next scuba diving vacation is not always easy but with a Passport to Paradise in North Sulawesi, you don’t need to choose! Explore all of North Sulawesi’s best diving locations in one phenomenal trip: Dive Manado Bay and Bunaken, then try your hand at diving Bangka Island and then finally the Lembeh Strait. Everything from walls, to kaleidoscopic reefs through to the world’s most famous muck diving.

MANADO & BUNAKEN – BANGKA – LEMBEH

Scuba diving - Bunaken Batfish school

Murex Manado Resort is located on the seafront of Manado Bay where we spend our afternoon’s muck and critter diving. In the mornings we take two dive trips to the incredible reef and wall sites in the Bunaken Marine Park which is just a short boat ride away. Murex Bangka Resort is our “Robinson Crusoe” tropical beach resort where hammocks and sundowners rule the day – when you’re not diving!

Bangka’s stunning soft coral reefs are home to some of Indonesia’s most sought after critters and resting white tip reef sharks and schooling fish are regular sightings here too. Lembeh Resort is located on tropical Lembeh Island and the Lembeh Strait is home to some of the rarest and most unique marine species on the planet – underwater photographers will be in their element here where every dive reveals a treasure trove of critters.

That’s not all, if your bucket list of Indonesia diving destinations extends further afield, both Bali and Raja Ampat are accessible from Manado with direct flights! We were recently visited by the team at Dive Into Life who travel the world checking out “Chic Travel and Tropical Diving” opportunities – here’s what they had to say about diving in the Bunaken Marine Park on a Passport to Paradise.

Scuba diving pristine reefs in North Sulawesi by Dive Into Life

Why you will fall in love with the diving in Bunaken before you’ve even entered the water?

“You know it’s going to be a great dive when you reach a site and from the boat you can already see that the shallow reef top is one of the healthiest you’ve ever set eyes on and the visibility below seems to be endless. Combine this with the fact that the Bunaken National Marine Park has one of the richest biodiversities in the world (over 2000 species of fish and almost 400 species of corals) and you can safely conclude that all the dive sites there are mind-blowing. But this is not all that North Sulawesi has to offer! How about combining the best wall dives with the most vibrant pinnacles and the craziest muck-dwelling critters?”
