What about air travel within Indonesia?

If you are flying from Jakarta, Bali or another Indonesian city, domestic flights typically impose a weight restriction of 15kg per person. Excess luggage is charged per kilo and is payable in Indonesian Rupiah at the airport. We can assist in securing domestic flight reservations if you are planning an extended vacation in Indonesia.

How far is the resort from the airport?

Murex Manado is located in Kalasey village, approximately 1 hours’ drive from Manado airport. Murex Bangka is located on Bangka Island, approximately 1 hours’ drive to Pantai Surabaya, our drop off point. Here you will transfer onto our boat and it will take approximately 20 minutes to get to the island.

Is it safe to travel to North Sulawesi?

What money should I carry?

Murex Resort accepts payment by Visa or MasterCard, Indonesian Rupiah, Euro or US Dollar. However, please be advised that foreign notes should be clean, new and crisp. Indonesian banks and money exchangers will not accept old notes or notes which are damaged in any way. You can also use your credit or debit card at ATM machines in town to withdraw Rupiah. It is advisable to inform your bank or credit card company that you will be visiting Indonesia prior to your departure, as it is not uncommon for the bank to put a block on the card if you use it in an exotic location without notifying them first. What’s the weather like?

Generally speaking, the “official” rainy season begins in November and continues through March. However, it is unusual to have continuous rain during the day. The norm is for it to rain at night, ending by early morning. Occasionally rain showers begin in the afternoon but typically do not last long. The rain will not interfere with your diving and we rarely cancel dives as a result of rain because with us you can also dive the Southern part of Bunaken NP, Bangka Area and Lembeh Strait. Is there malaria and dengue fever in the area?

Murex Resort is located close to the equator in the tropics. It is generally humid and there are mosquitoes. There are cases of malaria and dengue fever in North Sulawesi, so we do recommend you bring plenty of repellent and appropriate clothing and that you consult with your doctor before your trip for the most up-to-date advice on anti-malarial drugs, as well as other recommended vaccinations.
